Which one is your favorite photograph?

A photograph holds the document and truth of a particular moment. That’s why photographs are vital issues, keeping records of time, events and generations. Even the cave people used to keep documents through various drawings. And now, at the present era of science and technology, this whole affair has flourished like magic!
The first photographer whom I met in my life is my father. He is a superb photographer, although he doesn’t have any academic knowledge in this sector. He used to use an Asahi Pentax (k1000) camera, and he has captured my whole childhood through that in a very loving and charming way. Among all his beautiful shots, the one that is my special favorite is a picture of me, my mother and my elder brother. I was only two and half months old then. I was being taken for my first vaccination. Just before going out of the house, my father took this snap. In it, I was in my mother’s lap, and my brother was holding her shoulder from behind. My mother gave this enigmatic look towards the camera! In the soft morning light both my mother and my brother looking very happy and pretty, and me, simply oblivious about whatever was happening, as I was just a child!

What is the importance of this photograph?
This photograph is a glowing example of our small but happy family. Taken all those years back, still today I am deeply moved and touched by the emotion that comes from it. I have a copy of it in my phone, at my facebook wall, even an enlarged copy of it is hanging on the wall of my room. I am so attached to this particular photograph that I feel like it is a motivating factor of my life. Whenever I feel depressed of struggling with an issue, I take a look at this photograph and feel that no matter what, I have a place called home. The persons in the photo and the man behind the camera are my biggest supporters in this world, and my strength and shelter.

How can we develop our photography sector ?
Now-a-days the professional photographers are highly admired and appreciated. Bangladesh is proud to have some world class photographers born in this country, though the number is rather very small. But young generation is clinging more and more to this sector. They find it both thrilling and glamorous. So, when the young generation comes forward to work on any sector, it is sure to flourish then. There are good training schools in Dhaka and all over the country to teach professional photography. Also, regular workshops take place on various sectors of photography. Even, those who are actually interested in this, they do research on internet and it also helps them a lot to learn new and improved techniques of photography. Thus, I’d like to say, Bangladesh has a very bright future in the sector of professional photography.
