Grammar Pattern 16
Past Sentences with "be" + "ing"
Past Sentences with "be" + "ing"
Model Sentence
We were eating dinner last night at this time.
We were eating dinner last night at this time.
This
pattern describes actions that happened now, so we use "was" or
"were", not "is", "am" or "are". We use
"ing" to show the action continued. It was not an action that was
quickly finished! Because the action continues, it is possible that another
action happened at the same time.
